Why not try this taster workshop it’s only 3 hours long - just long enough to make something from silver clay - earrings, pendant or some charms. The workshop includes 10g of silver clay and use of all the tools and materials you need to complete your first creation! No experience is needed and it will give you the confidence to go on to do some full day classes.

Group meets regularly Thursday evenings.This group is designed for those who have attended any of the Silver Clay classes with PLT Designs. This a great way to meet like minded people, socialise and share ideas. The studio fee includes access to all equipment, tools and resources. Although no formal teaching will take place your tutor will be avialable to support and help you with your projects. Materials will be available to buy at a discounted price.

This introductory session will introduce you to weaving, working on looms that have already been warped for you. Jane uses a 'round robin' system so that you try a number of yarn combinations and patterns. At the end of the first day you will have a number of samples to take home.
Tues 6 April - Session 2
On the second session you will investigate more woven structures and have a demonstration of warping. If you book both sessions the cost is £90.

Regular informal workshops. Four sessions is enough time to make a piece following a particular theme. In this section there will be a demonstration and time to make a sample piece, the following sessions can follow this subject or bring your own pieces to continue working on. If you would like to work on a larger in depth piece 'Bring Sparkle to Your Garden' see the two day weekend course on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 April 2010.

You will learn how to make a mosaic that is weatherproof and one that will enhance your garden. When you spend time carefully putting the mosaic pieces together you do not want to see them crumble a few months later when the weather has done it's worst. Learn about the suitability of materials and adhesives and how to ensure that your mosaic looks good in its environment.

Introduction to Silver Clay is a full day learning all about Silver Clay. You will be taught how to roll, form, add texture, fire and finish your clay to create beautiful pieces of jewellery. All tools and materials will be provided including jump rings and 1 pair of earring findings. You don’t need any special skills or previous experience - you’ll be amazed at what you can make! Class includes 15g clay which is enough to make earrings, pendant and charm.
There are an additional five lessons in the series at a cost of £70 each - Liquid Silver, Stone Setting, Silver Clay Beads and Mould Making, Adding Colour to Silver Clay and Weaving Paper Clay. A discount of 5% when booking a series of four and 10% discount when booking all six.

These sessions are suitable for beginner and intermediate spinners. Some wheels and spindles are available for students to use in class. Beginners will learn to make a thread, improvers can learn the appropriate preparation techniques fo woollen and worsted spinning.

Preserve something special forever using Silver Paste. During this class you will be taught how to apply fine silver paste to leaves or other organic materials capturing all of the detail forever. All tools and materials will be supplied including 20g of fine silver paste and jump rings.

Two days of hammering, snipping and generally getting into the swing of making cubes of material come to life in a beautiful tonal panel
in the Roman style. We will look at design, materials and how modern day applications of mosaic can work in your home and garden.

Add sparkle and colour to your fine silver creations. During this class you will learn two different methods of stone setting. All tools and materials will be supplied including 15g silver clay, a 5mm CZ and one glass cabachon.

Indigo is a dye quite unlike any other and is a fascinating process to experience. We will make an indigo vat and use a variety of techniques to achieve a range of effects on fabric and yarn.

Add a fine silver bead or charm to other beads or use them as a focal bead on a leather thong. During this class you will learn how to make a fine silver bead, we will look at various ways of forming and creating beads. We will also learn how to make moulds to create charms over and over again. All tools and materials will be supplied including 15g of silver clay and moulding compound
Sat 19th June 2010 - LISA SMITH - ADDING COLOUR TO SILVER CLAY

Add some colour to silver clay using cold resins. Start the day by creating a fine silver bezel. You will then learn how to measure, mix and add colour and inclusions to cold resin. You will have a chance to practice adding colour using pewter bezels before completing your fine silver pieces. All tools and materials will be supplied including 10g silver clay, a pewter bezel, resin and inclusions.
NB Cold resin takes 24hrs to cure therefore work will need to be collected or can be posted to you.

Amanda’s work is in the contemporary field of Art & Ecology. She describes herself as an Ecological artist and activist. Her mixed media painting brings a “closer reading” of her local environment, and as a social arts practitioner, she initiates community based environmental projects. Amanda uses walking as part of her art and through this two day practical workshop will lead participants on a collaborative re-engagement walk to stimulate and inspire, and will help you develop and realise your ideas through expressionist marks in drawing and painting

Create earrings and pendant using paper clay! During this class you will learn how to work with paper clay to create beautiful individual pieces. This class will also give you an opportunity to finish or revisit projects from previous classes. All tools and materials will be supplied including 6 x 6 cm fine silver paper clay and 10g silver clay.
